Our Story
Susan Brown & Joshua Brown
Owners of CORE
CORE NEMT was built on compassion, experience, and a deep commitment to community. Susan Brown began her career in public service in 1979 as a Police Cadet with the Kansas City, Kansas Police Department. She served with dedication until her retirement in 2013 as a Police Detective in the financial crimes unit. After retiring, Susan continued giving back by volunteering at local food pantries and supporting those in need.
In 2022, Susan entered the non-emergency medical transportation field as a dispatcher and call taker for a small company. She immersed herself in learning the business by riding along with drivers, observing day-to-day operations, and attending NEMT seminars. She quickly recognized both the challenges and the potential for improving the industry.
With her son, Joshua Brown, Susan helped form a new company with a vision to raise the standard for NEMT services in the Kansas City metro area. Together, they built CORE NEMT with a focus on reliability, professionalism, and care.
CORE Values
Susan’s motivation for starting CORE NEMT was also deeply personal. During her mother’s final years, Susan often needed to arrange stretcher and wheelchair transportation for her. That experience revealed just how critical it is to have dependable drivers, well-maintained vehicles, and a team that treats every rider with respect.
Caring for her mother showed Susan the true value of quality service and inspired her to ensure others receive that same level of care. Her parents played a significant role in shaping her values and her commitment to helping others, which now serve as the foundation of CORE NEMT’s mission.
At CORE NEMT, we understand how important it is for families to feel confident in the transportation their loved ones receive. We are here to deliver that confidence with every ride.
